All students participate in a camp or retreat programme in Years 7, 9 and 12. Students in Year 7 and 9 participate in Camp programs during the early stages of the year. For Year 7 students the camp is an opportunity to meet other students in their Year group and to learn more about the College.

For Year 7 and 9 students the focus is on developing their relationship with God and each other, and challenging them with outdoor activities.

Year 12 students go on retreat where the focus is on preparing for the transition from school to the wider world and their developing relationship with God and each other.
The purpose of the camp and retreat programme is to:

• develop in students a sense of social integration and self reliance
• nurture in students behavioural obligations to self and others
• provide opportunities for outdoor experiences such as canoeing, recreation swimming, surfing, fishing, art, bush walking, bush survival skills etc.
• integrate a spiritual dimension into the life of each student
• assist students to interact with their teachers in a more informal setting
• assist students to communicate effectively about their feelings, goals and aspirations in a safe and informal environment
• develop in students a deeper appreciation of the richness of their faith by encouraging them to participate in and own the liturgical dimension of the camp or retreat program.

St Clare’s College strives to ensure that all camp and/or retreat venues are safe and all outdoor activities are facilitated by qualified supervisors. The camps are a highlight for students during the year, and as can be seen by the photos below, they come away with wonderful memories that will last for years to come.
