Student Leadership

St Clare’s College is committed to the development of leadership skills in all students and to the provision of comprehensive selection processes for formal leadership positions.

There are four senior leadership positions in the College. These include College Captain, Social Justice Leader, Sports Leader and Arts and Culture Leader. There are also two elected Year 12 House Captains. In all other years there are two elected Student Representative Council members in each Pastoral Care Group.

To assist in the formation of the senior leadership team and in the development of their leadership skills, the senior leadership team participates in formal leadership training sessions in conjunction with other systemic and congregational school senior leadership teams twice during the year of their office.

The Student Representative Council (SRC)

The Student Representative Council is viewed as a conduit between students, staff and the Executive in the total governance process of the College and as a forum for discussion of student issues and for planning for College events and charity fundraising.

The SRC is comprised of 96 students elected from the student body. Students are elected by their peers to represent their Pastoral Care group as members of the SRC. In Years 11 and 12 students hold this position for one year and in Years 7 to 10 for one semester.

The charter and work of the Student Representative Council is overseen by the SRC Facilitator. This position is held by a member of staff whose role includes the facilitation of SRC meetings, the coordination of SRC fundraising activities, the organisation of or participation in student leadership training and communication of SRC projects and student issues to the College community.
